Debbie Mounts has lived in Mexico since 1989 when she came as a Senior Fulbright Lecturer in Chicano Studies. She founded VISTAS Intercultural Institute in 1994 which provides Spanish Language instruction with academic credit given through California State University, Hayward. VISTAS continues to operate during the summer months. In addition, Debbie arranges group tours to Oaxaca whose focus is on the history and art of the region.
